To turn this commitment into a reality, we are pioneering an initiative to make our core learning modules accessible through Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) and Short Message Service (SMS). This approach is revolutionary in its simplicity and inclusivity. USSD technology allows for interactive, menu-based navigation on any mobile phone, without needing an internet connection. By dialling a simple code, a student in a village with only a 2G network can access a full menu of BECE and WASSCE subjects, select a topic, and begin their lesson, transforming the most basic feature phone into a powerful learning tool.
The true innovation lies in how we deliver our AI-powered learning through this text-based medium. Once a student selects a topic via the USSD menu, our system delivers concise, easy-to-digest lessons directly to their phone as a series of SMS messages. After the lesson, our AI engages the student with interactive quizzes, also via SMS. The student's replies are analysed in real-time, allowing our system to identify their strengths and weaknesses. Based on this continuous assessment, the AI personalises the learning path, sending follow-up lessons that target specific knowledge gaps or introducing more advanced concepts as the student masters the basics.
We are building an intelligent, responsive, and personalised tutor that fits into the pocket of every child, regardless of the device they own. By harnessing the universal accessibility of USSD and SMS, we are not just extending our reach; we are fundamentally redefining what is possible in digital education. We are building a system where a student in a remote area can receive the same quality of personalised feedback and instruction as a student in the city, truly levelling the educational playing field and giving every child, everywhere, a genuine chance to learn and succeed.
